BABY COUSIN

MY SISTER IS HAVING A BABY! It’s really weird to think, but we are SO excited our little dude will have another cousin! She is due just six months after me, so they will get to be close which is really fun.

We found out in March and they told the public on Easter, so we’ve been having fun chatting back and forth about pregnancy and all that good stuff. I can’t wait to find out if our little guy will have a boy or girl cousin!

Super fun things ahead for our family, and I just can’t wait!

35 Weeks

Symptoms: Little dude is hanging out LOW and I can feel it! I’m starting to waddle and I’m wondering how low he can get!
Sleep: I’m tired a lot still, and even catch myself snoring which is HORRIBLE.
Baby is: The size of a kid’s backpack, moving all the time, dropping low, and is head down!
Gender: BABY BOY!
Dad is: Super duper awesome, he sings little guy songs and tells him secrets but won’t let me hear hahaha.
Mom is craving: Ice chips (which is awesome) and peanut butter, which is also convenient.
Funny things this week: My cute friends threw me a DARLING shower (of course I forgot to get a picture when everyone was there) and we had so much fun! Little guy got so spoiled and it was so awesome to get together with my favorite ladies. I’m feeling so insanely lucky to have so many awesome people in my life. Huge shout out to Courtney and Sarrie who threw it (and Courtney’s mom who made everything darling!!)

34 Week Bumpdate

Symptoms: Not a ton of symptoms this week luckily! I’ve been having some Braxton Hick’s contractions which aren’t the most fun, but they go away and haven’t been super painful.
Sleep: Sleeping is getting more rough, once I’m awake it’s really hard to get back to sleep.
Baby is: The size of a basketball hoop which makes Randy laugh. He loves to move and at our last doctor appointment she told me he has dropped down, which is good!
Gender: BABY BOY!
Dad is: Busy busy with school and crossing his fingers that little guy won’t come until after his finals are all done.
Mom is craving: PHO. I was feeling sick and it was SO sad I couldn’t eat pho. With the diabetes I wasn’t sure how my numbers would do, especially since I haven’t been able to eat rice at all…and pho is rice noodles!
Funny things this week: We took some pictures for little dude’s room and made a bunch of paper cranes out of sheet music which was really fun.

ROOM REDO

Randy and I decided to redo our room (just slightly – nothing major) before the baby came!

It was really fun to get some new things and really feel clean and fresh for spring, the new baby, etc.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

I am in love with the all white look and think it will be fun to add a pop of color, and change it up whenever I want. Everything goes with white! We had dark blue and cream before, which was great. Unfortunately in our apartment the walls are cream, and our bedspread totally blended right into the walls which I didn’t love! It’s also darker being in a basement, so I wanted to lighten it up as much as possible. The all white is awesome and I am planning on adding some accents here and there to break up the white. White is just clean and fresh and I love it! All of the pieces are also SUPER easy to wash and bleach which I’m really happy about.

Easter

Easter and General Conference falling on the same weekend is my favorite! We listened to lots of beautiful talks and sustained a new Prophet. It was truly wonderful to see him crying as we all stood and offered him our love and support. I have such a strong testimony of living prophets and the fact that they get revelation for us here and now.
We also heard about new temples (I AM SO EXCITED FOR LAYTON) the changes in Elders Quorum and no more visiting teaching or home teaching! Lots of changes!
Our Easter was magical, we got some books for the baby and candy that I have stashed away for after I’m off this diet! *Randy may have been an absolute gem and gone and got me 9 bags of Hershey eggs so I can have some after the baby is born!*
We had meals with both of our families, and watched our niece Charlotte have a fun Easter egg hunt. There were balloons tied to the eggs and she was WAY more interested in the balloons than in the eggs or candy!
It was a wonderful holiday, and we’re so excited that our little dude will be here for the next one!

33 Week Bumpdate

Symptoms: I’m getting back aches and actually had a couple days of random nausea this week – it was really weird!
Sleep: Tired allll the time and if I wake up at night it’s SO hard to go back to sleep!
Baby is: Just amazing. As much as I can’t wait to meet him, I’m going to miss just he and I hanging out and feeling him move.
Gender: BABY BOY!
Dad is: So amazing! He is always sweet and kind and willing to go along with my crazy schemes
Mom is craving: CANDY which has been hard. I think it was just because of Easter so hopefully that goes away!
Funny things this week: We celebrated Easter and watched General Conference this week, and all the talks on parenthood made me bawl! It’s crazy to think about all these events next year and how we will have our little guy with us! We had a fun Easter egg hunt with our little niece, and it just made me so excited for our little guy to get here!

32 Week Bumpdate

Symptoms: Leg cramps from HELL randomly at night. I’ll move my foot one way and then have the WORST pain in my calves and have to try and move my foot around to get it to stop spasming. It’s probably the worst pregnancy symptom I’ve had, and honestly the worst pain I’ve ever had!
Sleep: I’m still tired and would love a nap anytime, which is weird for me.
Baby is: So wonderful! He moves around lots still and we have fun trying to figure out if it’s a foot or an elbow or a head we are feeling! He doesn’t kick or punch, just rolls or moves around. He gets the hiccups ALL the time which is awesome, because it’s funny to feel and it means he is practicing breathing!
Gender: BABY BOY!
Dad is: Wonderful! He’s been great helping me meal plan, exercise, and more with the diabetes!
Mom is craving: Ice chips! I made Randy take me to Chic-Fil-A just to get a big cup of ice chips. I munch on them when I go into the office alllll day. I’m also LOVING peanut butter since it’s one of the things that I can eat with no guilt with the diabetes – I’m eating spoonfuls every day and it tastes so sweet to my sugar-deprived palate!
Funny things this week: We have the baby’s room pretty much set up, and our niece loves to Facetime and ask to see the room (the room she slept in when she stayed with my parents) and she is SO cute about wanting to see the baby’s bed and all the toys. I make Randy scratch my back ALL the time and I’m pretty sure he’s getting super sick of it, but he’s a great sport! We went to our birthing class and hospital tour and it was really great to learn all the things about the baby, and see where he would be born! It made me feel really relaxed and ready for the whole thing! Randy is also having to put my socks on for me a lot of the time, it’s getting harder to bend over!

31 Week Bumpdate

Symptoms: I’m so sore all the time! Either my back or my arms or my neck, every day, something aches!
Sleep: I’m getting more and more tired, I haven’t had that huge burst of energy some people get in the last trimester, but I still have enough energy to do what I need to do, which is awesome. I just would love a nap every afternoon hahaha.
Baby is: Good! With Gestational Diabetes we are a little worried he will be a bigger baby, but so far he has measured right on. We’ll get to check again in just a few weeks to make sure he’s not too big! He moves around all the time, very rarely kicks me but more just bounces or rolls.
Gender: BABY BOY!
Dad is: The absolute best. He’s helped me so much by cooking, setting up the baby’s room, and just being my complete rock and support.
Mom is craving: Not a ton, which is nice with the diabetes!
Funny things this week: We went on our babymoon to the Little America and had some great Maddy/Randy time before our world flips upside down! We’ve been playing basketball at the park almost every night and I’m getting pretty good! I even beat Randy and HORSE this week!

BABYMOON 2K18

So a few months ago, Randy and I started talking about if we should go on a “babymoon” type of trip before little boy arrives. We debated San Francisco, Seattle, and even Washington D.C.

Randy, of course, is already the cutest dad EVER. He said he’d love to go on a little getaway, but he also wanted to save our money to take our little man to Disneyland or cool places after he was here. MY HEART.

Also, I got diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, and was pretty grumpy about the idea of traveling to a fun, new city and not being able to go to any restaurant or try any treat.

SO, we opted to do a little babymoon/staycation at the Little America. We stayed at the Little America on our wedding night and have gone back for anniversaries and things, and we absolutely love it. We love downtown, we love exploring our own city, we love all of it!

So, Friday we went and met our pediatrician (who I’m really excited about!) had a diabetes friendly lunch at Zuppas, and went to check into the Little America.

We spent Friday shopping, hitting up Guitar Center so Randy could jam out, had a little stop at the Instacare (I won’t share the story as it wasn’t a big deal, but it was Randy not the baby, and he’s fine.) There was live music in the lobby and we stopped and listened to a REALLY good singer and guitarist, we were really impressed! Then we cuddled up in our room, watching movies and talking and making plans for our little family.

Saturday we had breakfast in bed (our customary tradition) and we were off for more shopping, strolling around Salt Lake, going to a movie, just enjoying being together.

I didn’t go over my blood sugar numbers ONCE on this trip (hallelujah!) so we decided to head to Last Course and get a small treat for me to have a couple bites of. We got the peanut butter pie and it was BOMB (not as good as the glamping s’more in my opinion, but still amazing) and we decided to walk. It was Saint Patrick’s Day and we were the ONLY people on the street that weren’t totally wasted. It was SO funny to walk around all these people dressed in green, running into the streets, just generally being ridiculous.

Sunday we slept in, then headed to Eva’s Boulangerie for brunch. It was sincerely one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Eggs Benedict and organic greens and it was out of this world!

We headed home after that, but Randy started spring break on Monday, so babymoon wasn’t over!

Monday I got into nesting mode while Randy went to his new kickboxing gym (if anyone is interested, let me know. Randy is OBSESSED with the gym and the boxing/kickboxing classes he gets to go to!)

I cleaned and organized, we washed all of little man’s new clothes, and went and got his crib! His room is pretty much put together which is CRAZY. I feel like I’m doing things before I’m supposed to, but I’m paranoid and busy and want everything ready for when he shows up:)

Tuesday I went into the office, but that didn’t mean babymoon was over! Randy and I went to the Jazz game on Tuesday night. We had AMAZING seats and had the best time. We lost a heartbreaking game, but it was still so fun. It’s crazy that in just under 2 months, it won’t ever be just us again. We’ve been so lucky to get to do so many amazing things together, just us. But I can’t wait to see what our life will be like once our little dude arrives.

30 Week Bumpdate

30 Week Bumpdate:

Symptoms: My back is hurting more, and it’s still so impossible to breathe because little dude is taking up all my room!
Sleep: Sometimes I’m incredibly tired, sometimes I’m super energized! It’s so random!
Baby is: Doing great! Moving around and he had the cutest moment with his dad yesterday, it seriously was like he knew it was Randy and so he kept bumping him and rolling around.
Gender: BABY BOY!
Dad is: Fantastic! He’s been helping me make sure I eat the right things and get the right exercise. It’s awesome.
Mom is craving: Random things random days, most of which I can’t eat! No fun!
Funny things this week: The week dragged on in some ways, and flew by in other ways! We saw our diabetes education doctor and got more specific information about what I can and can’t eat. I’ve been pricking my finger which isn’t my favorite. There are worse things! So far my GD numbers have all been going. I have found out that rice is off the menu! It has made my blood sugar go too high both times I have had it. So unfortunately for me (and for poor Randy!) no more rice meals for the next 10 weeks!
